December 12-15, 2019. Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun
Come to Rees Atelier for a unique learning experience! Tim Rees will guide a limited number of students through the techniques and process of creating his new series “Des Artes Graphicas” to combine the classical world of realism with the modern art of abstraction.
Students will spend mornings working from the model to learn traditional methods of realism, from the way Tim maps out drawings in graphite, to transferring, to color mixing and paint application. This (portrait or nude) painting will be built up over the four-day workshop.
The first two afternoons, on separate canvases, Tim will take students through his methods of abstraction, including mark making and color harmony. This is the chance for students to really explore their creativity! The third and fourth afternoon will focus on learning to integrate abstraction into the realistic painting to create a believable, unified picture.
Students have the option to work from a model or reference photo. If working from a reference photo, students are encouraged to have the photo ready.
Cost: $675 (Model and Registration Fee included)
